Audio Visual Artifacts builds AVA, a haptic listening room in Brooklyn where eight people lie on an octagon and feel any song as full body vibration and light.

60 words

Audio Visual Artifacts is a Brooklyn studio that builds instruments for feeling music. Its first artifact, AVA, is a sixteen foot octagon sound bed for eight people: any song becomes full body vibration across five zones while generative light is drawn from the same signal. AVA runs as a public listening room at 29 Nassau Ave in Greenpoint, travels to festivals and events, and installs in hotels and homes.

120 words

Audio Visual Artifacts (AVA) is a Brooklyn studio that builds instruments for feeling music together. Its first artifact, also called AVA, is a sixteen foot octagon sound bed with thirty-three tactile transducers driven as five zones of the body, from 41 Hz at the feet to 880 Hz at the head. Guests choose the music; the room separates and time-aligns it so it travels through the body and around the circle, while a projected light field is generated from the same audio in real time by the studio's own open-source software, AVA OS and Easel. Sessions run 45 to 90 minutes for one to eight people at the studio's public room at 29 Nassau Ave, Greenpoint, on weekdays: wellness sessions by day, live sets and album nights after dark. AVA also travels to festivals, museums and brand events, and installs permanently in hotels, spas, clubs and private homes.
